Bowling AlleyThis is a featured page

There used to be a bowling alley downtown, near where Jessica's Restaurant is today, and it was also right next door to the movie theater. The bowling alley was on the ground floor level, with either three or four alleys (probably four), with a snack bar out in front. They had the best Denver Sandwiches (egg, ham, and green pepper - like a Denver Omelette, but in a sandwich).

Tommy Leonard owned the bowling alley until it was sold to Reese and Jones in 1947. The bowling alley and bar was renamed L&L Bowl & Amber Room. The fire destroyed the bowling alley which had 4 lanes upstairs and 4 downstairs in 1956. The bowling alley location was sold to Clark Dempsey who put in offices. Aropa Designs now occupies that part of the building. Charles Reese retained the other half of the building known as the Amber Room which was renamed The Huddle.
