    Arrowheads

first posted by Anonymous Yesterday, 9:42 AM EDT Watch When we were children we would go exploring--some of the things we would find in unpopulated areas were small fossils in rocks and what really looked like arrowheads. I know the boys always kept them--sometimes they would even find a stick and tie them unto it(this must have been before duck tape...lol)so they could hunt(snipe...lol?) 2 replies | Post a Reply out of found this comment valuable. Thank you for your question--the boys would find them on a place I now know as Hospital Hill--I guess at one time this property was the potential site for a hospital. I'm afraid I know little more than that--When I was growing up I heard stories that there was a house on Jefferson Street along the creek that Indians(Native Americans)would frequent--as the story goes sometimes sleeping on the property--whether this is true or not I am unsure--but as children it was an enticing thought leading to adventure...

Other Places to Remember, II
posted by Frankjm3 Yesterday, 2:17 PM EDT Watch We need to remember Frank Mayer's Standard Oil station and Danny William's Cities Service station, also Don Brown's Sinclair station and Harley Baker's DX station by the bridge. Another old timer business was Featherston's Old Stone Mill, and can't forget Sauerberg's grocery store. Also, how about Max's Walgreen with a real soda fountain and the Red Hen restaurant and bar. How many other Whitewater retail landmarks can you remember.

Anonymous Friday, 8:32 AM EDT The name Containia's should be spelled Catania. Jake and Hazel owned the store and they and their family lived on Cottage St. The family was also very musical and Jake also played in a local band. It may have even been his band. Not sure. On the original list the name Brenner Market should be Benner's. Eddie and Ruth owned the store at the Five Points and they lived just across the street. Which was a good thing as I don't believe they ever had a car. Reply Quote and Reply Delete this reply out of found this comment valuable. Do you find this comment valuable?

This is probably the first time this has ever been revealed, but when there was an explosion and fire at the home of one our family members, it was Jake and Mrs. Catania who were the first to respond with boxes of clothing for the family. Subject: The night we lost "Old Main" From Linda Loomer: Hello, I am wondering if there have been any stories about the fire and what do I do to read them? Also, I am finding very little information on the web site, so far the only thing I have been able to locate is about the Busy Bee, are there other stories and if so how do I access them. Thanks

A response to Linda - A review of the site indicates one story regarding that sad night in Whitewater's History and if anyone has other memories of that event please go to the Whitewater History Page (Click here) and share them with us. To get to that story or any historical memory do go to the History page and click on any of the topics, in this case click on events and then click on Old Main Burns Down.
In the years by decade area click on 1960s the for some other general memories. Thanks for visiting www.whitewaterhomecoming.com
