Mr Crummey must have been a busy guy. He was the football coach and driver's ed teacher, had a boat store, the drive-in and the cabins. When we first arrived in Whitewater in 1960, we spent our first night in the Crummey cabins. We often ate at the drive-in when I was a kid.

Back in the summer of 1966 (age15) when I had no where to go and no way to get there. A bunch of my neighborhood Janesville, Putnum, Gault St. buddies (the 16 year old w/car) would go to Crummys for the 5 burgers for a buck add a malt for probably another quarter. Man that was great, stuffed to the top and not caring. That was a night that I haven't forgot in over 40 years. Thank You Whitewater and Crummys for the memories, it's to bad more kids won't have something like this to look back on.
Dennis Knopp(aka Denny K) still on Janesville St 40+years later. |
