Letter of Invitation
(A transcription of the above)

To any former residents of Whitewater, Greeting;

The first permanent settler of Whitewater, Samual Prince, began building his log cabin in the first week of July, 1837. The 70th anniversary of that event is approaching and the people of Whitewater are planning to celebrate it by a Grand Home-Coming Festival, July 4th to 7th, 1907. Through us, they extend to you and yours, and to all old friends and neighbors, a hearty invitation to come and participate.

There will be a rousing 4th of July celebration of the old sort, followed by two days of public exercises and social reunion. There will be a "hot time in the old town" for three days, and hundreds of former neighbors and friends who have not met for years will gather from far and near to greet each other "in the old familiar place."

We want you to come. We hope that you will begin planning to come, without delay. You will have the "time of your life." Don't fail to come. Whitewater has a large respresentation scattered out through this big country, and we shall not be satisfied with less than a full thousand of home-comers next July.

Reduced rates will be secured from the railroad companies. The hospitality of the town will be extended to all who come. Begin now and plan for one more visit to old scenes and the old neighbors that remain, and to those who will gather here from all parts of the land to meet you. We expect you.

And will you not write a letter soon to the Chairman of the General Committee, Pres. Albert Salisbury, saying what you think of our scheme and promising to meet us next July? If you can't come, write us a letter just the same and tell us about yourself and your family.

- N. B. The above invitation has been sent out to every address which the Commitee on Publicity were able, by any means, to secure of any former residents of Whitewater. The number thus mailed out is nearly 2500. Undoubtedly there are some whose address we have not been able to learn, which is a matter of regret but is not due to any lack of effort on the part of the committee.
