She was the wife of Dr. James Trippe, who built Whitewater's first gristmill and sawmill. He became the proprietor of the village site, turning over vast areas for its churches, building sites, and cemetery. He died in 1844 and was one of the first to be buried in the new cemetery, on the east side of town. Rosepha Trippe was a leader; she was business-minded and determined to carry on with her husband's work. She died in 1881. (Fred Kraege, Whitewater)
