The road took me here
To this place where no sound but the wind is heard through the trees
And on some days I suppose a lot of weeping
With the willows that edge the water—that lead the songs
The mournful groans of those left to witness these moments of internment
But it is also here that final rest
Gives me hope
As I remember I look to each stone
For a glimpse of the name that became my maiden
It is here somewhere among the many who belong to others
The diligent search for some part of you
Some memories flowing through the trees
To remind me of the good things you taught
The interesting stories
Your hand built boats
The wood hand carved from your memories on the great lakes
The work you did unloading coal
And the boats that you saw as you operated the crane
A crane operator above the land
You saw more than most
And for each of us you took these memories and carved the boats
For each child first and then for the grandchildren
Each with it’s own style-some for sail—some for tug boats
Green and red—is that the colors you saw
1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
