We moved into Whitewater staying with relatives--mainly my grandmother--with more than one family staying there it was a house filled with children. in the meantime the adults were looking for housing for their growing families. Along came our benefactor, Mr. Chamberlain. He talked to my Father about a property he was interested in purchasing. He offered to rent it to our family at a very reasonable price--$30.00 per month plus a little labor to fix the place up. The first month we lived there Dad repaired something on the house and told him about the work done. Mr. Chamberlain said not to go to any cost and that he would let him know if there was something he would like fixed. In all the nine years that we lived there Mr. Chamberlain never asked for any repairs to be done or upped the rent. This enabled my parents to save for a down payment on the house that they eventually built and reside in today. God Bless Mr. Chamberlain!
