I too remember the movies at the Co-op. We always had a little change to buy ice cream in the store. The movies didn't start until dark but it seemed our parents always felt it was safe for us to walk home late at night. (small town safety, I gusess). We had to walk down the length of N. Fremont and we usually ran most of the way because we were sure that 'Old Limpy Landers" would be hiding behind a tree and would chase us. He was the town character in the early 50's. Used to ride his bike down to the city dump to hunt for things. I never heard that he ever harmed a soul, but the kids were terrified of him.
